Arthur W. Albright, 86

Fremont

Died at Fremont Area Medical Center on Wednesday night, May 21. Art was born in Chicago, Illinois September 1, 1927 where he was raised and graduated from Carl Schurz High School in 1945. He entered the U.S. Marine Corp where he served in China. After his service attended Midland University where he lettered in football and track, graduating with a degree in business in 1951. He joined Hormel Foods after college serving in various capacities and retired after 38 years as a superintendent. After his retirement he painted houses for a number of years with Ray Reed.

Art was a official for high school and college football, served on the board of the Fremont YMCA, coached Jaycee football, delivered Meals on Wheels, and was a member of Fremont F.O.E. Lodge 200 and the Fremont Golf Club.

Art married Ruth Walther November 29, 1952 in Fremont.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, one daughter Lynn E. Albright of Norwalk, Connecticut, one son John A. Albright (wife Mary) of Carmel, Indiana, one sister Geraldine Renz of Chicago, Illinois, and four grandchildren; Andrew and Katherine Albright and Samantha and Stone Westray. He was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara Albright Westray in 2006.

Memorial services will be Friday, May 30, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church. Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. There have been memorials established to the YMCA Swimming Pool Fund and the Salvation Army. Condolences may be left at www.duganchapel.com.

Interment will be in Ridge Cemetery.
