Barbara M. Wilder

January 24, 1935- September 11, 2023

Barbara passed away on September 11, 2023 at Edgewood Vista in Fremont.  She was born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts to Lance and Ruth (Sullivan) Samson.  Barbara graduated from Lynn Classical High in 1952.  She married Leonard Wilder, an Air Force man, in 1954.  Together they moved around as his orders changed.  The two of them lived in Louisiana, England, Massachusetts, Texas, New Mexico, Nebraska, California, Indiana and then back to Fremont for retirement.

Barbara did volunteer work in family services and churches while their daughter Pam was in school.  She later worked as a receptionist at an eye doctor and the YMCA.  Barbara loved cooking, entertaining, playing bridge, water skiing, snow skiing and red hat functions.  She loved live music and plays.  Barbara was involved with youth and fellowship groups at Fremont United Methodist Church.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert G. Samson of California.

She is survived by daughter, Pamela (Robert) Lahodny of Belleville, Kansas; brother, Gene (Shirley) Samson of Nova Scotia, Canada.  Several cousins and many friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Fremont First United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to service.

Memorials suggested to Fremont First United Methodist Church or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
