Bessie J. Turner, 76 Fremont Died January 2, 2007 at Fremont Area Medical Center. Funeral services are at First Lutheran Church Monday January 8, at 11:00 AM. Rev. Carl Rist and Rev. Anjeanette Rist officiating. Vistitation will be Sunday January 7, from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel. A memorial has been established to First Lutheran Church. Condolences may be left at www.lattindugan.com. Bessie J. Turner was born to Lumir Prochaska and Henriette Houska on September 7, 1930 in Purple Cane Township. She grew up in the North Bend area and graduated from North Bend High School in 1946. Children were a great part of her life. She graduated from Midland College and taught country school by Rogers and Cedar Bluffs. She attended the recitals and programs of her children and grandchildren and made each child an important part of her life. She volunteered as Sunday School Superintendent while her grandchildren were in the Sunday school program at First Lutheran Church. She worked for many years at Adams Motor Company as a bookkeeper. She was a loving wife and mother. She married Carl Richard Strong, May 26, 1950 in Raton, New Mexico. He preceded her in death January 10, 1976 in the Pathfinder Hotel explosion. She is preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Trent. She married Doug Turner November 14, 1987 in Fremont. Bessie was an active member of First Lutheran Church. She loved to travel and was able to see many sites in the USA and abroad. Her favorite places included Israel, Germany and Czech Republic. Coming from a farm background, she loved to raise livestock, moving to an acreage near Arlington in 1990. She is survived by her husband Doug Turner of Arlington, sisters Dee Hancock (husband Eddie) of Fremont, Janice Goosen (husband Ray) of Bayard, Nebraska. Her children Carl E. "Rick" Strong (wife Sharon), Dawn Barnes ( husband Robert) both of Fremont, Hope Songster (husband Roger) of Valley, Robin Fooken (husband Brad) of Fremont, Gwen Hoover ( husband Chris) of Lee Summit, Missouri, William Turner (wife Melissa) of Byron, Ohio, several nieces and nephews. Grandchildren include Jamey Semrad (husband Geoff) of Fremont, Chris Barnes (wife Sarah) of Denver, Colorado, Nicole Strong of Des Moines, Iowa, Nathan Strong of Fremont, Sarah TenEyck (husband Steve) of Leshara, Nebraska, Laura Songster (fiance Matt Pleas) of Omaha Gabrielle Fooken of Fremont, Clint Fooken of Winter Park, Florida, Theresa Baca, Tom Pullen, Juan Baca, Jesus Baca, and Carl Baca all of Valley, Nebraska.
