Betty L. Hurt, age 83, of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Dunklau Gardens.


Betty was born August 29, 1932, to John and Elizabeth (Knoell) Dorfmeyer in rural Hooper, Nebraska. She attended and graduated from Scribner High School in 1949. After high school she attended Wayne State College, she worked as a school teacher in the Hooper/Scribner area, until meeting and marrying Francis Hurt in 1951, Francis preceded her in death in 2004. Betty worked as a book keeper for Automatic Vending for 32 years.


Betty was an active member at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, she was a member of the WELCA, where she held many offices. Betty was a Girl Scout Leader in the area for many years, as well as active in the Fremont Friendship Center where she would often be found playing cards. She will be deeply missed.


She is preceded in death by her husband Francis, sister June Cajacob and parents.


She is survived by her three daughters, Sally (Terry) Christ of Cedar Bluffs, Sheryl (Keith) Bode of Fremont, Deana Vyhlidal of Fremont, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, sister Donna Golder of Hooper as well as many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 3-7PM with family present from 5-7PM at Dugan Funeral Chapel.


Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 18, 2016 at 10:30AM at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in Fremont.


Burial will take place at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Fontanelle
