Bobbie Lee Hopp, age 66, of Fremont, Nebraska died Friday, June 15, 2012, at her home.She was born on September 28, 1945, in Charlston, S.C., to Wally and Seva Hopp.She attended Hastings High School, graduated from Kearney State College, and received her Masters of Education from the University of Nebraska.

Bobbie taught one year in Minden, Nebraska before coming to Fremont where she taught at Fremont Junior High School.She was the Fremont High School girl's basketball and girl's golf coach.In her twenty-nine years of coaching, she took three basketball teams to State and her golf teams finished many times in the top ten.The Nebraska Coach's Association recognized her in 1995 and 1996 for her many years of service to high school sports.She also received The Honorary Starter Award from the Fremont Golf Club for her years of service to the Junior Golf Program.

After retiring from teaching in 2001, Bobbie began her work with the Special Education and Basic Living Skills students in Fremont.Her goal was to challenge them with new and different opportunities, which included establishing a series of golf clinics for them.

Bobbie was a long time member of the Fremont Golf Club and past president of the Fremont Ladies Golf Association.She was involved in the Nebraska Women's Amateur Golf Association, serving as president for 3 years and as tournament director.She was a Trans-National Representative for many years, served on the USGA Regional Affairs Committee and currently served as a television escort for NBC Sports at the Women's U.S. Open.

On October 2, 2012, Bobbie will be inducted into the Nebraska Golf Hall of Fame.Wally and Bobbie Hopp will be the first father and daughter recipients in Nebraska history to receive this prestigious award.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her sister Julie and husband Dennis Asmus; niece Melanie and husband David Woolen; great-nieces Sammy and Chelsea Woolen of Hastings, Nebraska; nephew Justin Asmus and fianc Judy Kempf of Lincoln, Nebraska; Kay and Fred Brown family of Fremont; and her two special dogs, Bandit and Babe.

Memorials may be directed to NWAGA, Fremont Golf Club Junior Golf, and the Nebraska Golf Hall of Fame.

The memorial service will be Monday, July 2, at 11:00 A.M. at the Presbyterian Church in Fremont.The Reverend Scott Jensen is officiating.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Hastings, Nebraska.
