Caroline A. Speed, 85, of Fremont, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, surrounded by her family at her residence after a short battle with cancer.
Caroline Alyce Husman Speed was born in Chapman on May 30, 1925 to Theodore and Linda Husman. She graduated from Chapman high school in 1943, then attended Nebraska Central College in Central City. Following a short stay in Portland, Oregon as a phone operator, she moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked for the Air Force Finance Center. It was there that she met Fred Speed. They were married on December 21, 1951 in Denver and spent 59 wonderful years together. Fred and Caroline farmed together in Chapman for 33 years. They later moved to Minden, York, and for the past 8 years have lived in Fremont. Caroline enjoyed cooking, music, gardening, playing cards, their dogs and her family.

She is survived by her husband, Fred; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Brian O'Gorman; Son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Christa Speed; and granddaughter, Anna Speed.

Memorials are suggested to the Chapman Methodist Church.

Service will be Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 1:00p.m. at the Chapman Methodist Church in Chapman. There will be no visitation.
