Charles F. Murphy, 76 Fremont Died at his home Wednesday night, June 17.
Charles was born November 2, 1932 at Wayne, Nebraska and was raised there graduating from Wayne High School in 1950. He entered the U.S. Marine Corp and served in Korea for three years. In 1956 Chuck moved to Fremont and was an officer on the Fremont Police Department for five years. In 1961 he opened the Safari Club with his brothers in law, Gene and Travis Nelson, which he operated until 1966 when he started KDM Beer Distributership which later became RCK Distributing. He sold the Distributership in 1998. Chuck Murphy married Kay Nelson September 10, 1955 in Fremont. He was a member of Fremont VFW Post 854, Hooper American Legion Post 18 and the Fremont Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife, Kay, one daughter Dawn Nannon (husband Mark) of York, Nebraska, one son Michael (special friend Denise Rabe) of Beatrice, Nebraska. Six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Tom Shaw and Rev. Scott Jensen officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials have been established to the Church of the Nazarene and the Fremont Area Memorial Hospital for Hospice. Condolences may be left at www.duganchapel.com.
