Delbert R. Maynard, 79

Fremont

Delbert died at A.J. Merrick Manor Sunday. He was born in Omaha August 27, 1933 and was raised in Wahoo attending North Ward and District 47 schools. Delbert worked at Blue Star foods then entered the Navy in 1951. He was stationed at San Diego, Hawaii and the Phillipines serving on the Buckley DDR808 and USS Wadell DDG24 during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts as a machinists mate. He retired from the Navy in 1971 and then worked as a school custodian in North Platte, Lincoln, Wahoo and Yutan retiring in 1998.

Delbert married Esther Swirczek July 12, 1980, she died December 27, 2011.

He is survived by one daughter Roberta L. Lee (husband Jack) of Bellevue, one son Robert R. Maynard of Omaha, five stepdaughters Mary LaRocca and Dorothy Lowther of Fremont, Charlotte Brauning of Prescott, Arizona, Cathy Harmon of Phoenix, Arizona and Carol Swirczek of Austin, Texas. Two stepsons, Bob Grell of Fremont and Ed Swirczek of Waterloo; one sister, Iown Tripplet of Wahoo, eighteen grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Saturday June 1 at 10:00 A.M at Memorial Cemetery. Fremont Honor Guard will present Military Rites. Condolences may be left at www.duganchapel.com.
