Dennis W. Stenvers was born July 18, 1926, on the family farm west of Uehling, the youngest child of Mauritz and Mathilda (Claasen) Stenvers.

Dennis attended District 60, Shady Corner School and Uehling High School graduating in 1944.Following high school, he joined his father in the farming operation.
In 1951 Dennis joined the United States Navy.He received his training in San Diego, California, and Seattle, Washington.Following training, he served aboard the USS Randall transporting troops from the west coast to various locations in eastern Asia.Following his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1954 with the rank of Quartermaster II, he returned to help his father manage the family farm.

On December 30, 1961, he and Marilyn Satree were united in marriage in Council Bluffs, Iowa.Two children were born to the couple, Alan and Linda.Once Dennis and Marilyn retired from farming they moved to Fremont and purchased a home.Marilyn preceded him in death in 2001.

Dennis served on the Board of Directors of the Uehling Cooperative Credit Association until its assets were sold to the Uehling State Bank.He also served on the Logan Township board.He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Hooper and the American Legion Post 196 of Uehling.

He is survived by a son, Alan Stenvers of Lincoln; daughter, Linda Stenvers and special friend Chris Marisette of Lincoln; grandson, Matthew Marisette; sister Shirley Wagner of Uehling; brothers-in-law Raymond (Jean) Satree of Craig, and J.R. Behrendsen of Omaha and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation:Thursday, August 25, 2011, from 4:00-8:00 PM, family present from 6:00-8:00 PM at Dugan Funeral Chapel in Fremont.

Funeral Service:Friday, August 26, 2011, at 10:30 AM at Dugan Funeral Chapel.

Interment:St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery north of Hooper, Nebraska
