Donald "Don" Ray Beatty, age 70, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012, at his residence in Fremont.

Don was born in Auburn, Nebraska, on November 26, 1941, to Wendell and E. Maxine (Groff) Beatty.He graduated from Auburn High School in 1960.He graduated from Midland College in Fremont in 1965, where he met Dorinda Tillman and they were married in the First United Congregational Church in Fremont on August 12, 1967.He was a teacher and a coach at Geneva, Nebraska, schools returning to Fremont while teaching math and coaching football at Waterloo, Nebraska, high school.He served as a firefighter for the city of Fremont for 26 years from October 2, 1972 until he retired at the rank of Captain on August 1, 1998.He was then employed at the Fremont Area Medical Center from 1996 to the present.

Don was a member of the Fremont Masonic Lodge and the Fremont Fraternal Order of the Eagles (F.O.E.), and was a member of the O.F.C.C. Corvette Club. One of his favorite activities was attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
