Doris E. Plettner, age 90, of Fremont passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at Fremont Health.

Doris was born September 22, 1924 to George and Emily (Horne) Barney in Yates Center, Kansas. She attended Friend High School and graduated in 1942. After high school she worked in selective service in Bellevue, Nebraska. Doris moved back to Exeter where she then taught school in Friend and Exeter for 4 years. Doris married John J. Plettner on June 23, 1946, in Friend.They moved in 1952 to rural Waterloo, and ran a chicken hatchery business and farming operation.They developed Timber Lodge Lake as well as running Trout Haven in Waterloo, NE.John and Doris enjoyed living the winter months in Weslaco, Texas, until moving to Fremont in 1996.Doris loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards.
