Dorothy E Carlson's Obituary
Dorothy E. Carlson, age 89, of Fremont, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Nye Pointe.
Dorothy was born June 28, 1927 in Pacific Beach, Washington to Charles and Julia (Klein) New.Her family moved to Nebraska in 1928 where they farmed in the Greeley and Boone counties. Dorothy attended Spaulding High School and graduated class valedictorian in 1944.On December 26, 1946 Dorothy married Eugene V. Carlson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Primose, Nebraska. They farmed in Albion and Cedar Rapids, NE area for ten years before moving to Fremont in 1956. Dorothy graduated from Midland College and was a elementary teacher. She taught in country schools in Boone, Saunders and Dodge Counties.
Dorothy's favorite places to be was among her beautiful flowers and garden in her yard and attending Bible study groups. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont and belonged to St. Joan of Arc.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene (1996), two brothers Charles and Tom New, two sister-in-laws Margaret Carlson and Rose Jensen, two brother-in-laws Jerry Kraus and Vermoyne Wiese and nephew Joseph Kraus.
She is survived by her daughters Annette (Robert) Bailey of Fremont, Kathleen Carlson of Omaha, son Ray (Carol) Carlson of Fremont,. Sisters Doris Kraus and Bernice Wiese and brother Jim New all of Grand Island. Brother-in-law Lauren Jensen of Fremont, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nine nieces and nine nephews.
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Archbishop Bergan Elementary School.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Thomas McKnight, caregivers at Nye Square and Nye Pointe, Fremont Health and Kindred Hospice and all who assisted her and the family these past years.
Visitation will take place Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 4-8PM with family present from 6-8PM and rosary service beginning at 7PM at Dugan Funeral Chapel.
Funeral Service will take place Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:30AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Burial will take place at Memorial Cemetery.
