Dwayne R. Kubik, 74, of Fremont peacefully passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha NE.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Donald (Joann) Kubik of Lincoln NE, Barbara (Dan) Bock of Schuyler NE, Margaret (Monte) Howk of Rathdrum ID, Robert (Joy) Kubik of Burke VA, and Michael (Kristina) Kubik of Gig Harbor WA; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Other loved ones include his sister Willamae (Ron) Ohnoutka of Houston TX and many nieces and nephews and countless numbers of very close friends.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon R. Kubik; parents Stanley and Hattie Kubik; and Sister Betty Kantor.

Dwayne, a dedicated husband and father, took great pride and pleasure in spending time with his wife and family. After graduating high school in Weston NE, Dwayne joined the navy and served as Radarman 3rd Class on the cargo ship USS Jupiter (AVS-8) operating out of Yokosuka Japan replenishing units of the 7th fleet and on the destroyer USS Braine (DD-630), flagship of Destroyer Squadron 21, and served in the Western Pacific as airways operation specialist. After returning from service and marriage to Sharon, the couple moved from Wahoo NE to Fremont NE and Dwayne started his business career at Bell Typewriter Company as a salesman and service manager (1957). In 1960 Dwayne became a joint owner and Vice President of the Bell Typewriter and later became sole owner in 1967. Dwayne sold the Bell Typewriter business in 1976 to focus on his growing rental business. Due to Dwayne's successful management and sales career at Bell Typewriter he was awarded with many trips which provided Dwayne and Sharon the opportunity to travel both domestically and internationally. Dwayne served the local Fremont residents on the city planning board. Dwayne was very active in, and sponsored, local bowling and golfing teams. He retired in 1987 after selling his rental business and enjoyed many years of travel between his home in Fremont and Casa Grande, AZ.

A celebration of a life filled with love is planned with a memorial service to be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.on October 25, 2011 at Dugan Funeral Chapel in Fremont.

Burial will take place at the Wahoo Cemetery.
