Edith M. Staab, age 87, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

Edith was born to Emil and Dorothy (Bley) at the family farmhouse in Newman Grove, Nebraska December 31, 1923.She attended and graduated from Newman Grove High School.Shortly after high school, she met Stan "Bud" Staab at a dance when she was 18 years old.They fell in love after that dance and got married two weeks later in Omaha on November 5, 1942.The Justice of the Peace married them and their cab driver acted as the witness.After living in Marshalltown for a few years, they moved to Fremont where they lived and raised their family.In 1973 their daughter Becky was killed in a tragic automobile accident and in 1999, Bud suffered the same misfortune and died in an automobile accident as well.Her son Larry passed away suddenly in 2010.

Throughout her life, Edith spent her waking hours trying to make her family happy.She was always very thoughtful and her priority was taking care of her family.She was so caring that she welcomed other people who were without family into her home.She loved to meet with her coffee group and had done so for 20 years up until 3 months ago.She enjoyed traveling with her daughter Debby to various locations and was proud to see her daughter at work.Edith especially loved caring for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her dogs.

Visitation: 4:00-8:00 PM Friday, November 4, 2011, at Dugan Funeral Chapel.There will be a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM at Rosehill Evangelical Church in Newman Grove.

Interment: Rosehill Cemetery ~ Newman Grove
