Edmond F. (Ed) Keating, 91
Elkhorn
Died at Fremont Area Medical Center Tuesday night. He was born July 11, 1920 in Fremont and was raised in David City graduating from David City High School in 1938. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and then lived in Lincoln, South Dakota, and Grand Island before moving to Omaha in 1943. During WWII he was employed at the Bellevue Martin Bomber Plant and worked on the Enola Gay, fitting it for its mission. Ed married Phyllis Messner October 19, 1941 in Lincoln, she passed away October 14, 1991. In 1987 Ed moved to Fremont and then returned to Omaha in 1997. He owned the Electrical Products Company from 1962 until his retirement in 1981.
Ed Keating married Donna Wardlow in Omaha December 6, 1998.
He was Past President of the Grand Island Kiwanis Club and the Nebraska Seniors Golf Association. He was a member of Oak Hills Country Club, Fremont Golf Club, North Bend Masonic Lodge #119, and Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn. Ed never retired from his love of the game of golf or his sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife Donna; two daughters, Linda Anderson (husband Kenneth) of Kearney and Patricia Beebe (husband Kenneth) of North Bend. One son Larry Keating (wife Judy) of Omaha. Seven grandchildren; Brad Anderson (wife Kelle Hunt-Anderson); Barbara Meier (husband Kevin), Greg Beebe (wife Patti), Scott Anderson (wife Jean), Jennifer Beebe, Kristy Hazuka (husband Scott) and Mike Anderson. Ten great grandchildren; L.J. and Misty Hunt Anderson, Carly, Emma and Max Meier, Natalie and Halle Hazuka, Devin Anderson, Mia and Sam Beebe.
Sisters-in-Law Edith Messner and Virginia Keating, brother-in-law C.J. Messner and wife Linda.
Memorial services will be Saturday October 8, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn. Rev. Larry Arganbright officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials have been established to Bethany Lutheran Church and the Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation. Condolences may be left at www.duganchapel.com.
