Edwin B. Benson, 79 Fremont Died at Allegent-Immanuel Hospital in Omaha Saturday Morning, June 7, 2009. He was born at Hordville, Nebraska January 25, 1930, the fourth youngest of eleven children. He was raised in Hordville graduating from Hordville High School in 1947. He moved to Fremont in 1949 and worked for the Geo. A. Hormel Company. In 1952 and 1953 he served in the U.S. Marine Corp in Korea returning to Fremont with Geo. A. Hormel where he worked until his retirement in 1984. Edwin Benson married Ann Ferrara in Los Angeles, California April 19, 1953. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie #200, and Fremont VFW post 854. He is survived by his wife Ann, one daughter Kathy Von Kienast (husband Tom) of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and one son Gregg Benson (wife Marci) of Kearney, Nebraska. Two sisters, Agnes Andreasen of Grand Island, Nebraska and Esther Kuhn of Ames, Iowa. One Brother Floyd Benson of Waukee, Iowa, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grand child. Memorial Services will be Wednesday June 10, at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Fremont. Rev. Ron Nelson and Rev. Marvin Suhr officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials have been established to the Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund and the Nebraska Childrens Home. Condolences may be left at www.duganchapel.com.
