Elaine Westring
Elaine B. Westring, 84, of Fremont died Monday, September 15, 2008, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
Elaine was born in York and attended elementary school in St. Edward and Albion. She graduated from high school 1942. She then attended Midland College in Fremont while living on the same piece of land that her family homesteaded. After college, she was employed by R.L. Polk as a district supervisor, responsible for compiling information for city directories throughout the region. After 20 years, she retired to her rural Saunders County home to live with her aunt and enjoyed her favorite hobby of attending horse races. Elaine would travel to Nebraska in the summer and New Orleans in the winter to attend races at the local track. After becoming ill in 1999, she lived at Nebraska Skilled Care in Omaha until recently moving to Fremont in August.
Survivors include: her brother, Lester (and wife, June) Westring of Saratoga, Wyo.; two nieces, Deb (and husband, Dave) Spicka of Fremont and Lynnette (and husband, Vern) Schaff of Manchester, Iowa; her two nephews, Tommy (and wife, Cathy) Westring and Randy Westring, all of Saratoga; a special friend, June Asper; her sister-in-law, Ann Westring Allen; several great-nieces and great-nephews, a great-great-niece and a great-great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lenard Westring; her aunt, Hilda Radacke; a nephew, Rick Westring; and a great-nephew.
A service will be held at a later date.
