Florence L. Havens, 75, Fremont passed away Sunday Morning August 26, 2007 at A.J. Merrick Manor after a long illness. Florence Letha Bremer was born on November 7, 1931 in Stanton, Nebraska, the daughter of Gustav and Anne Bremer. Flo attended rural school District 22, and Stanton High School, where she graduated in 1949. Ste attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri before receiving her teaching certificate from Drake University in 192. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and received her 50 year membership certificate in 2001. May 30, 1953 Flo married Richard Havens in Stanton, Nebraska. They lived in rural Stanton County and moved into Stanton in 1964 where Flo raised four children and devoted her time to a variety of charities and civic endeavors. She served as choir director of the Congregational Church for eleven years and was Republican County Chairman for nine years. Dick's business obiligations took Flo to Fremont in 1973, Bettendorf, Iowa in 1978, Hutchinson, Minnesota in 1982 and back to Fremont in 1985. Flo was Past President of PEO Chapter AJ in Fremont. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Fremont Golf Club. She is survived by her husband Richard Havens; 2 sons, Rand Havens (wife Debbie) of Berkeley, California and James Havens of Peoria, Arizona; 2 daughters, Shelly Havens of Glendale, Arizona and Joni Mamana of Great Falls, Virgina; 1 sister Pem Woodward of Grapevine, Texas; Grandchildren Kelly Havens, Amy Havens, Andrew Havens, Isabel Havens, Jack Mamana and J.J. Mamana; neices, nephews and friends. Flo was a woman of unbounded energy, especially when it came to sports. During her lifetime she attended over 300 Big Red football games at home and on the road. During the summer, the Chicago Cubs were her constant companion, and at her Arizona winter home the Phoenix Suns kept her entertained. She loved traveling, gardening, watching birds, ducks and geese, and playing cards, gin rummy and bridge being her games of choice. She was devoted to a succession of family dogs, but her chief love in life was people. She will be remembered and missed by the many friends who often joined her, to enjoy lively and often colorful conversation. Though her children and grandchildren live in other states, they were always in her thoughts and prayers. The body will be cremated and there will be no visitation.
