G. Dean Johnson, 77FremontDied at Fremont Area Medical Center Friday Nov. 20.He was born in Omaha, Nebraska November 23, 1931 and was raised in Fremont attending Fremont Schools and graduating from Fremont High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy and returned to Fremont in 1954. In 1956 he went to work for Sherwin-Williams Paint Company as a credit manager and retired in 2007 as an internal auditor. During his time with Sherwin-Williams he lived in Fremont, Lincoln, Sedalia and Lees' Summit Missouri, Memphis, Tennessee, Arlington, Texas and Cleveland, Ohio before returning to Fremont in 1991.Dean married Caralee Bang on October 11, 1953 in Fremont, Nebraska.He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Director and Treasurer of the Lower Platte North NRD, and State Treasurer of the Nebraska NRD. He also served on the board of the Salvation Army, the Fremont Housing Authority, and the Fremont Golf Club. Dean was recently appointed to the Fremont City Council.He is survived by his wife, Caralee; his mother Carol Johnson of Fremont; one daughter Brenda Nelson (husband Terry) of Fremont; one son Brent Johnson (wife Michelle) of Longmont, Colorado and grandsons Jeremy and Kyle Nelson of Fremont. Also by sisters-in-law Shirley Johnson of West Allis, Wisconsin and Nola Beck (husband Robert) and Delores Bang of Fremont; Brothers-in-law Ron Bang (wife Carol) of Fremont and Raymond Bang (Alvina) of Ogallala.Services will be Tuesday November 24 at 1:00 P.M. at St. James Episcopal Church. Rev. Jay Gabb officiating. Visition will be Monday from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family present fron 6:00 to 8:00. There have been memorials established to St. James Episcopal Church and the Ridge Cemetery Association.
