Helen Naomi Hultquist, age 85, of Fremont, passed away Tuesday February 18, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Helen was born to William A. and Rosa G. (Johns) Krause on December 11, 1928 on the family farm near Winnebago. She attended Winnebago High School and then entered the work force. She married Harold H. Hultquist, on April 17, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill. She lived and worked on the farm at Walthill, where she was a wife, homemaker, and mother. Helen retired from the farm in 1985, when she and Harold moved to Fremont. They would often help others in the neighborhood with home repairs and other needs. Helen was a very active volunteer with the Low Income Ministry here in Fremont and belonged to the Ladies Aid at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Helen raised a large garden, preserving fruit, vegetables and meat for her family. She sewed many outfits for herself and her daughters, and enjoyed making quilts and rugs. She had a green thumb and always had flowers blooming. She built many things from wood. For example, she built her daughters a large playhouse complete with curtains at the windows, and the table set. By example, and by always working with them when there was a job to do, she raised self-sufficient, strong daughters. She could do anything she set her mind to.
She was proceeded in death by her 10 siblings, and her parents.
She is survived by her husband Harold H. Hultquist of 65 years.

Visitation will be on Sunday February 23, 2014 at Dugan Funeral Chapel from 2:00-6:00 P.M. with the family present from 4-6.
Funeral Service will be Monday February 24, 2014 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 10:30 A.M.
Interment will be at the Lyons Cemetery following the luncheon.

Visitation will be Sunday February 23, 2014 at Dugan Funeral Chapel from 2-6 with family present from 4-6.
