Helen M. Monke's Obituary
Helen M. Monke, 79, formerly of Fremont, passed away on November 3rd in Scottsdale, AZ, following a lengthy illness.
She was born October 28, 1938, in St. Joseph, Missouri. At the age of 2 yrs, her family moved to Charles City, Iowa, then moving to Fremont- Hooper area in 1961. Helen resided in the Fremont area until moving to Peoria, AZ in 2005. Helen married the love of her life, Bill Monke on November 28, 1975. He preceded her in death in 2005.
She was a former member of Salem Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of F.O.E. Aerie #200 Auxiliary and the Fremont Golf Club. A devoted and loving mother, step-mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest talking points in the recent past was speaking proudly of her many great-grandchildren. Her insight and wisdom in life, will be a treasured memory for many, especially her grandchildren. Helen made it her mission to teach every child, (and willing adult) family or not, to water ski and swim, and to appreciate the joy in doing so. An avid golfer and tennis player, she enjoyed all of life moments in our great outdoors. Hosting business and family gatherings was a special gift she enjoyed. Helen became a self taught flight navigator, traveling to many locations with Dad and friends all across the country. At the time of her death she was an active member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, serving in many ministries there.
She is survived by a daughter, Pam Monke of Phoenix, 3 step-daughters; Linda Kirk and Amy Taylor (James) of Papillion, Lori Monke of Virgina Beach, VA.One step-son Dave Monke (Sheila) of Fontanelle, 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.She was preceded by her husband and two grandchildren, Jacob Monke and Sebastian Rayson.

There will be a gathering for family and friends Sunday, November 19, 2017,from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Dugan Funeral Chapel.A memorial service will Monday, November 20, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont.A graveside service will be Monday prior to the service at 9:30 at Salem Fontanelle Cemetery.
