J. D. Newhouser, 89, Rockford, Illinois died Sunday, March 26, 2006 in Swedish American Hospital. Born May 19, 1916 in Wilcox, Nebraska, son of Emanuel and Mary (Bates) Newhouser. Married Opal Steele on September 14, 1946. She died March 18, 1990. Opal's son was Ken Headrick, long time news and sportcaster for KHUB in Fremont, and KFAB in Omaha. Following her death, he married Alice Senseney and she predeceased him in April, 2004. He retired as Production Coordinator from the Champaign News-Gazette. Member of the Wood River, Nebraska United Methodist Church. Survived by daughter, Jayne (husband Don) Maxwell, Rockton, Illinois; Brother, Myrald Newhouser, Lincoln, Nebraska. 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. Services will be Friday, March 31 at 2:30P.M. at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ron Croom officiating. Visitation will be at 1:30P.M. until service time.
