James "Jim" I. Malone age 76, of Fremont, passed away Saturday February 8, 2014, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
Jim was born November 3, 1937, to William and Hazel Malone in Lexington, Nebraska. Jim attended Gothenburg High School and graduated in 1956. On February 17, 1959, he married Donna Sherman at the United Church of Christ in Lexington, Nebraska.
After graduation Jim went into the work force. He worked as a General Manager for Hillside Dehy in Uehling, Nebraska from 1965 to 1987. In 1987, they moved to Los Angeles, California, where he managed DEX for 3 years. After starting up a feed operation in California they moved to Moscow, Kansas, where he was the general manager for Moscow Feed Mill for 3 years. In 1993 Jim and Donna returned to Fremont, Nebraska, where he resumed his position as General Manager of Hillside Dehy Scribner and Uehling. He then went to Tek Systems Inc. as a maintenance manager for a few years. After a brief retirement, he then went to work for Rhea Cattle Company where he worked the last 7 years of his life.
Jim devoted himself to public service as well having served 6 years on the Nebraska Alfalfa Dehy Association, serving as President for one year. He served 8 years on the Board of Education for Uehling School District 49, acting as President for 3 years. Jim served 12 years on the Village of Uehling Town Board, and was the Mayor for 6 years.
Jim was a hard worker who loved his family. His wife Donna, daughter Sandra and son Steve, and his grandchildren were his priorities. Jim was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan and bowling league player.
