James "Jim" L. Paulin, age 91, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Shalimar Gardens in Fremont.

A lifelong resident of Fremont, Paulin was born October 27, 1924.He attended Fremont Public Schools and graduated from Midland College in 1947.He worked for First National Bank and Goodyear before joining Carlstrom Brothers in 1949 as office manager.He retired as president when the company closed in 1987.

Jim was a member of The Presbyterian Church and participated in two mission trips with the Senior High Fellowship to Mexico.He joined the Kiwanis Club in 1953, serving as president in 1961, Lieutenant Governor in 1982-83, and secretary of the club from 1986 until 1999.Always active, he was a charter member and secretary of the Construction Employers Association (Fremont Contractors) for 21 years, Associate Bethel Guardian of Job's Daughters for 8 years, he served on the City Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment, was Fremont City Councilman from 1970-74, and was President of the Midland Alumni Association in 1957.Other organizations include Fremont Masonic Lodge, Tangier Shrine, Pathfinder Investment Club, and Dansant Social Club.

Jim was married in 1949 to Darlene Feye and they later divorced.In 1977, Jim married Bonnie Walker who preceded him in death in 1998.

Preceded in death by his infant son James in 1950, his 11 year old daughter Jamie Lynn in 1963, and his wife Bonnie.

Daughter Kathryn (Bruce) Lackey of Fremont; 3 Grandchildren, Brian (Mandy) Lackey of Fremont, Lisa (Jeff) Manka of Fremont, Brett (Tara) Lackey of Kansas City, MO; 6 Great-Grandchildren Mallory, Brycen, and Liam Lackey and Tolon, Corbin and Grace Manka; Sister Marjorie (John) Gould of Ramona, CA; Stepdaughters Nancy (Randy) Samson of Omaha and Janet Walker of Lincoln; Stepson David Walker of Lincoln; 3 Step-Grandchildren Matt (Laura) Samson of Omaha, Ben Samson of Omaha, and Christopher Walker of Lincoln; 2 Step-Great-Grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Fremont Kiwanis Club or The Presbyterian Church in Fremont.
