James H. Moore's Obituary
James H. Moore, Jr., 90, of Fremont, NE died at Nye Legacy Monday Nov. 13.
He was born February 28, 1927 in Hominy, Oklahoma and graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1945. Jim attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and graduated in 1949. Jim has been involved in banking since 1947 in Omaha, Gering, and then moved to Fremont as the first employee of the newly chartered First State Bank in 1956. He was elected Executive Vice President in 1961, and then promoted to President in 1968. He became Chairman of the Board in 1987, when he and 10 Fremont businessmen purchased First State Bank. Jim retired as Chief Executive Officer in 1992.
Jim married Maria Munro November 10, 1951 in Omaha.
He is survived by his wife Maria. Six daughters; Barbara (Dennis) Noyes of Andover, Kansas, Mary (William) Piernot of Westminster, Colorado, Katie (Randy) Price of Lincoln, Maggie (Malcolm) Peters of Fremont, Amanda Koris of Omaha, and Betsy (Kevin) Hulett of Fremont. Fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
For 60 years, Jim has served his community in numerous ways: Chairman of the YMCA Foundation, Fremont Area United Way, and Fremont Industrial Foundation. He served as a board member to the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, Memorial Hospital Foundation, Fremont Area Community Foundation, Greater Fremont Development Council, Fremont YMCA Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Fremont Area Art Association, Kiwanis Club, Fremont and Elkhorn Valley Railroad, and Fremont Golf Club. He also served as an Elder and Foundation Trustee at The Presbyterian Church in Fremont.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 16 at 11 o'clock at The Presbyterian Church in Fremont, Nebraska.Rev. John Ashley officiating.Visitation will be Wednesday, November 15, from 4-8pm with family present from 6-8pm at Dugan Funeral Chapel Fremont, Nebraska.
Memorials have been established to the Fremont YMCA, Fremont Presbyterian Church, and the Fremont Area Community Foundation.
