Jim "Pete" Peterson, age 53 of Fremont, died Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at University of Nebraska Medical Center. He was born August 11, 1955 in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Dale and Mary Ann Peterson. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1974. Upon graduating he started working at Oil Gear in Fremont where he was an employee for 34 years. Jim and Marla were married on March 10, 1989 in Fremont.
"Pete" was very active and he especially enjoyed being outdoors kayaking, golfing, skiing, camping, and hunting.
Jim was battling Hodgkins Lymphoma for the last 13 years. He lived his life as normal as possible, working everyday until two weeks before his death. His strength and courage was admired by all who knew and loved him. He taught us all to face challenges with dignity.
Jim is survived by his wife Marla, Daughter Sheila (husband Mark) Ballard, Daughter Emily Perina and two sons Seth and Andy Perina. Three grandsons, Cain Freund, Braxton Ballard, and Jacob Vacha. His mother Mary Ann Peterson, sister Rene (husband John) Radtke, brother John (wife Michelle) Peterson, brother Bob (wife Linda) Peterson. Many nieces and nephews. Special friends John Carey, Angie Greser.
He was preceded in death by his father Dale Peterson.
A visitation will be held at Dugan Funeral Chapel Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with family present at 6:00 P.M.
A service in celebration of Jim's life will be held Monday at 10:00 A.M. September 15, 2008, at the Presbyterian Church in Fremont.Please visit www/duganfuneralchapel.com for condolences
