John J. Plettner, 85 Fremont Died at his home Saturday February 11, 2006. John was born in York, Nebraska August 13, 1920. He was raised in Exeter, Nebraska and attended Exeter High School graduating in 1937. Along with his father and brothers, John worked in the Hatchery business before entering the U.S. Army in 1942. Upon his return to Exeter, John married Doris Barney on June 23, 1946 at Friend, Nebraska and re-entered the family business. John and his brother Joel farmed, developed Timber Lodge Lake and Trout Haven. John and Doris were members of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Valley, they moved to Fremont in 1996. Surived by: Wife Doris 3 daughters: Mary Jo Rowell (husband Don) of Fremont Jan Snyder (husband Nye) of Fremont Carol Morgan (husband Ron) of LaJunta, Colorado 2 Sisters: Betty Jurgensen (husband Rex) of Stromsburg, Nebraska Eyvonne Clayton of Chico, California Brother: Glenn Plettner (wife Alice) of Columbus, Nebraska Sister in Law: Marie Plettner of Alamo, Texas 4 grandchildren:Laura Wiese, Andrew Rowell, John Rowell, Lisa Rowell Preceded by a daughter, Marta Kay Plettner; 2 brothers Joel Plettner and Karl Plettner and grandson Steven Miller Because of the sudden passing of John's grandson Steven Miller on February 11, services will be announced at a later time.
