Joyce Carol Deines, age 75, passed away at Shalimar Gardens Memory Unit in Fremont, Nebraska on September 11, 2015.

Joyce was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to Peg (Weed) and Eldon Franklin on April 8, 1940.When Joyce was growing up she always helped with the family restaurant, attended and graduated from Missouri Valley High School. Joyce married Dean A. Deines on December 31, 1959 in California and spent most of her life in the Omaha area.They were married for 55 years and had one son, Duane Anthony.Joyce was a strong, professional woman who worked hard no matter what the job was.She spent a number of years with the Omaha Grain Exchange as the Editor for the Omaha Grain Exchange News.She then took a position with Willsie Cap and Gown and was the Comptroller when she retired in 2012.Joyce enjoyed time with family, reading, sewing, fishing, and was extremely interested in genealogy. This interest led to her long involvement with the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia, at one point serving as their President.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Peg Franklin.She is survived by her husband Dean, her son Duane (Pam) Deines, granddaughter Tiffany, brother-in-law Fred (Ellen), nieces Kahrin (Michael) DiGioia and Alison (Sam) Sehnert, and nephew Nick (Megan) Deines and wonderful neighbors.

Memorials have been established to Shalimar Gardens in Joyce's name.

A gathering will take place from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Friday, September 18, 2015, at Dugan Funeral Chapel.Chaplain James Jost of Gentiva Hospice will be present.
