Karen L. Pelz, 61, passed away December 23, 2010, at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha. She was born April 28, 1949 in Friend to William and Jeannine Krejci and grew up in Exeter. She graduated from Exeter High School in 1967 and attended University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating in 1971. She moved to Fremont in 1972. She was a lifelong educator having taught at Arlington and Brugh, among others, and retiring from Howard Elementary School in Fremont in 2008. She was also a longtime director for the YMCA Camp Christian.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include: her mother, Jeannine of Exeter; daughters, Jennifer Nabb of Dallas, Texas and Nicole (Jason) Alexander of Omaha; Step-children, Melinda (Bill) Baker of Ruskin and Tracy (Kevin) Beranek of Milford; brother, Bill (Dixie) Krejci; sisters, Patricia (Bob) Becker and Sherri (Gary) Dumpert, all of Exeter; and grandchildren, Finn Carter Alexander, Dillon Baker, Kaleigh and Trent Whisler, Riley Baker and Regan, Rio and Kenney Beranek.
Services will be Tuesday, 10:00 at Dugan Funeral Chapel in Fremont. There will be no visitation.
Burial will be at Exeter Cemetery in Exeter, Nebraska.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society.
