Karl David Nordstrom was born March 14, 1938 at Wausa, Nebraska to Norris and Naomie (Swanson) Nordstrom.  He was baptized into the Christian faith at Thabor Lutheran Church, Wausa.  He died May 25, 2022 in Fremont.

He attended Wausa Public Schools graduating from high school in 1955.  He received an Associate of Arts degree from Luther Junior College, Wahoo, Nebraska, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas and a Master of Divinity degree from Augustana Theological Seminary, Rock Island, Illinois.  He served his internship at Trinity Lutheran Church, Galesburg, Illinois and did graduate study at Maywood Seminary School of Missions and doctoral study at McCormick Seminary, both of Chicago.  He was ordained into the Lutheran ministry at Thabor Lutheran Church, Wausa in 1963.

Prior to entering the U.S. Navy as a Chaplain in 1966, he served the Quad-Lutheran Parish at Sharon Springs and Tribune, Kansas.  Naval chaplaincy included duty at Corpus Christ, Texas;  DaNang, Vietnam; Beaufort, South Carolina; USS NASHVILLE; Little Creek, Virginia Beach; and Portsmouth, Virginia.

From 1973 to 2000 he served parishes at Osceola, Nebraska; Lake Jackson, Texas; Omaha, Holdrege and Byron, Nebraska.  During this time he was District Dean of the Nebraska Synod and a member of the Synod Council.  Retirement took him to Holdrege, Kearney and Fremont where he is a member of Sinai Lutheran Church.

He married Joan Marie Nelson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Wahoo on June 7, 1959.  They became the parents of Richard, Rachel and Russell.  They loved to travel, visiting Tanzania, Russia, many European countries, especially Sweden the home of their ancestors.  Many winters were enjoyed in Rancho Mirage, California.

Dave was active in the communities he served as a scout leader, baseball coach and an officer in community organizations of Rotary, Kiwanis and Lions Club.  He is a member of American Legion Post 52 and VFW Post of Kearney.

Survivors include his wife; son Richard Eric Nordstrom and wife Deborah of Cypress, Texas; daughter Rachel Marie Noble and husband Jeffrey of Centennial, Colorado; son Russell Evan Nordstrom and wife Heather of South Sioux City, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren: Nicole (Decker) Derdyn, Emily (Jared) Burns, Benjamin (Rebekah) Noble, Allison (Will) Lee, Abigail (Reagan) Bergen, Lauren (Cameron) Morford, Kathryn (Andrew) Johnson, Ryan (Courtney) Nordstrom, Tyler (fiancé  Beth Hamilton) Nordstrom, Nathan, Erik and Meddie Nordstrom; eight great grandchildren: Zadie and Ari Noble; Junia Lee; Elliott, Benny, Max and Sloan Johnson; Liara Burns; brother and sister-in-law Evan and Carolyn Nordstrom of Fremont; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Douglas and Janice Gustafson of Ithaca; nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother Linnea Nordstrom.
