Kevin L. Bechtel

September 10, 1958 – November 25, 2022

Kevin L. Bechtel of Fremont, Nebraska passed away on November 25, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.  He was born on September 10, 1958 to Charles and Mary (Arvanetis) Bechtel in Des Moines, Iowa.  The family moved to Fremont, NE when he was 3 years old.  Kevin graduated from Fremont Public Schools in 1977.  After graduation he worked at Magnus Metal.

He met his soulmate Brenda in 1979 and they married April 5, 1980.  During their marriage they had 3 children, Nick Bechtel, Chelsea (Bechtel) Knowlton and Colt Bechtel.

Kevin worked for Hormel in Fremont for several years, now Wholestone until his death. He maintained friendships with coworkers from both Magnus Metal and Hormel.  He always made friends with everyone he met.  Kevin knew no strangers.

Kevins hobby was woodworking. He loved making birdhouses.  Kevin was recognized in the Fremont Tribune for the best birdhouse in the area.  He also enjoyed yard work and decorating.  When he was younger, he loved golfing with his friends from both Magnus Metal and Hormel.  Kevin loved to shop.  He was worse than a woman at times but he enjoyed it!

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary (Arvanetis) Bechtel; sister, Karen Knutzen and son, Nick Bechtel.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Lamb) Bechtel; children, Chelsea (Anthony) Knowlton of Wayne, NE and Colt Bechtel of Fremont; granddaughter, Celina Knowlton; niece Tiffany Knutzen; nephew, Brian (Anisha) Knutzen; brother-in-law, Jim (Janet) Knutzen; special pets, Sadie and Bella; special friends, Mike Brennan, Dan Meyer and Paul Roumph.

Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00 am.
