Linda R. Jonas, age 77 of Omaha passed away Thursday September 11, 2014 at her home.

Linda was born April 15, 1937 to Owen and Bonnie (Nabors) Chessher in Pecan Gap, Texas. She graduated from Pecan Gap high school in 1955. After high school she moved to Los Angeles, California to live with her sister Jenny while working as a phone operator. Linda met Stanley in L.A. and married one month later. She resided in L.A. for several months until Stanley was discharged from the Marine Coprs. After Stanley got out of the Marines they moved to Schuyler, Nebraska and started farming with his father. Linda helped out on the farm until 1969, they then moved to town and worked several different jobs. Linda went back to school at Platte Community College in 1982 to pursue a nursing degree which she achieved in 1984. She worked as a nurse in the Schuyler Hospital until 2001. She then retired and moved to Omaha. She was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2009.

She is preceded in death by her husband Stanley Jonas, son Vincent Jonas; brothers Norris, Bud, and Jack Chessher; and sister Jenny Pierce.

She is survived by her son James (Bridget) Jonas of Omaha, daughter Jennifer (Ed) Kaminsky of Seattle, Washington, brother Ben (Mary) Chessher of Cooper, Texas, Gerald (Ginger) Chessher of Cooper, Texas, and sister Alma Chessher of Charleston, Texas; grandchildren Joshua, Jessica, Jeremy, Nomindari, Anudari, and Daniel.
