Lorraine J. Nelson, 71
Fremont
Died at Methodist Hospital in Omaha Monday morning.
She was born June 23, 1938 in Minatare, Nebraska to G. George and Martha (Batt) Schnell, the oldest of six daughters. The family moved to a farm near Sunol, Nebraska where she began her public education. They then moved to Potter, Nebraska where she and her sisters attended grade school and Potter High School. She graduated in 1956 and that same year was named the first Potter Days Queen. Following her graduation from High School she was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. H.C.Q. Nelson in Sidney, Nebraska.
Lorraine Schnell married Daniel E. Nelson December 22, 1957 in Potter.
Survivors include Husband, Daniel, two daughters, Tracey Ann Nelson of Valentine, Nebraska and Nancy Sue Christensen of Fremont. One son James Edward Nelson of Blair, Nebraska. Three sisters, Annette Juelfs and Beverly Adams both of Potter, and Colleen Hutchison of Sidney. Four Grandchildren; Joshua, Jacob, Zachary and Sarah and three great grandchildren, Kyan, Emmy, and Robert. She was prededed in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Wright and Joan Brass.
She was first of all a homemaker and a dedicated Mother and Grandmother. She cherished and loved her family and will be greatly missed by her many friends and loved ones.
Lori was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was involved in the church choir and with the Women of the Church.
Services will be Friday December 18, at 9:30 A.M. at First Lutheran Church. Rev. Charles Axness, Rev. Scott Jensen, and Rev. Gib Botten officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Dugan Funeral Chapel with the family present from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Memorials have been established to the Fremont Area Community Foundation and the Peace Lutheran Church. Condolences may be left at www.duganchapel.com.
Interment will be Saturday at 9:00 A.M. at the Potter Cemetery in Potter, Nebraska.
