Lyle Andrew Nolting was born on December 18, 1923, to Carl and Anna (Johnson) Nolting, of Rosalie, Nebraska, and passed away October 15, 2016, at the age of 92. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bancroft, Nebraska, and graduated from Rosalie High School in 1941. Lyle was a life-long farmer, and served in the Merchant Marines in 1942-43.
Lyle married Leona Asmussen on December 31, 1941, and to this union had one son and three daughters. Leona passed away in 1958. Lyle married Janice Wichman on November 8, 1959, and had three daughters. Janice passed away in 2009.

Lyle enjoyed baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.He could remember names of players, when they played, how well they played (in his opinion of course) and whether a young player would 'amount to anything'.He was also quite knowledgeable of other professional teams and their rosters as well.A student of the game!

Lyle was one of those guys who enjoyed 'going out' for dinner; hoisting a few drinks with friends; telling one story after another, embellishing them along the way;enjoying himself wherever he went.His circle of friends and acquaintances was extensive.

Lyle and Janice were able to travel to several exotic places thanks to daughter Candace (a Delta Airlines employee) and her husband. While living in Florida, they enjoyed getting in the Buick and going for drives.They had some wonderful friends, who were also 'snow birds'.They enjoyed dropping by their homes for refreshments and storytelling.Some of the stories were even true.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Howard, Leroy, and Irvin; sisters Ione Dixon, Elvira Haas, and Maurine Simonsen; wives Leona and Janice; daughters Candace McIsaac and Tami Allen; an infant grandson and an infant great-granddaughter. All are together now in God's heaven.

He is survived by his son, Dudley (and Beth) Nolting of Keiser, OR; daughters Vawn (and Matt) Stark of North Platte, NE, Marty (and Keith) Potter of Fremont, NE, Marla Nolting of Fruitland Park, FL, and Michele Nolting (and Rich Lujan) of Santa Fe, NM; sons-in-law David McIsaac of Salt Lake City, UT, and Ken Allen of Lincoln, NE; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Since Lyle was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bancroft, memorial services will be held there Monday, November 7, 2016 at 1:30PM.
