Marnie M. Simms Friel, age 43, of Papillion passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at Midlands Hospital.
Marnie was born October 15, 1972 to William and Karen (Prell) Simms in Fremont. She attended Fremont Public Schools graduating in 1991. Following graduation she attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln graduating with a degree in Journalism and Broadcasting. Years later she earned aMasters degree in Secondary Education from the College of St. Mary's. She married Jeff Friel on October 30, 1999 in Fremont. Born to this marriage were three children, Megan, Ethan and Caden. Marnie was employed through Omaha Public Schools and worked as a teacher at Lewis and Clark Middle School.
Marnie was a very loving mother who life revolved around her children. She was known for her fun sense of humor and her contagious smile. She would often be found running children back and forth from practices, games, band, baseball, volleyball and basketball. Marnie's smile, presence, and sense of fun will be missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her father William Simms, grandparents Neal and Marie Prell and Oscar and Irene Simms.
She is survived by her children Megan, Ethan and Caden, husband Jeff, friend Brad Hamel, mother Karen Simms, brother John Simms (Jennifer Curtis), sister Susanne Simms and nephew Derek, many other relatives, beloved cousins, family and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Dugan Funeral Chapel from 4-8 with family present from 6-8pm.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 4, 2016 at First Baptist Church at 10:30am with Pastor Leland Foreman officiating.
Burial will take place at Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial's can be directed to the Friel children's education fund.
