Melrae L. Svoboda, 83 Fremont Died at the University of Nebraska Medical Center Wednesday, March 7. She was born January 4, 1924 in Hastings, Nebraska and attended elementary schools in Kearney, Omaha, San Diego, and Fremont. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1941 and then attended Midland Lutheran College for two years. During the Second World War she was employed at the Nebraska Defense Plant at Mead with the Corp of Engineers. She moved to California with her family where she worked for Bank of America and then returned to Fremont where she worked for the manager of the then new George A. Hormel Packing Plant. Melrae was involved in the Girl Scouts and projects for disabled children. She was a member of the Fremont Art Association and the Fremont Golf Club. Melrae L. Anderson married George E. Svoboda January 3, 1949 in Fremont. Preceded in death by her parents DeWitt C. & Eva (Berger) Anderson. Survived by her husband George, one daughter Janene Brandenburg (husband Michael) of Vienna, Virginia. Two sons James Svoboda (wife Debra) of Kansas City, Missouri and Mark Svoboda of Laramie, Wyoming. Two grandsons; Christopher and Benjamin Svoboda of Kansas City, Missouri. One grand-daughter; Eva Brandenburg of Vienna, Virginia. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday March 12, 2007 at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Home. No visitation prior to the service.
