Michael A Phelps' Obituary
Michael Allen Phelps, 56, died peacefully in his sleep, of natural causes, April 29, 2015, in Fremont, Nebraska.
Michael is survived by his daughters Molly (JD) Harris, of Loveland, CO and Devin Hasek, of Fremont, NE; grandsons Keaton and Colton; former wife Heidi Phelps, of Loveland, CO; brother Terry (Cherie) Phelps, of Bloomington, IN; sister Mary Phelps Baylor; uncles Lenny Phelps, Charles Phelps, and Gene Ham; as well as beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Jack Phelps; his mother, Beverly Duff; and his stepfather, Joseph Duff.
Michael was born in Omaha, NE, he grew up in Nebraska and upstate New York.He was a disabled veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1978 to 1981.Mike moved to Colorado in 1989.He spent several decades in the Fort Collins-Loveland area, before returning to his Midwest roots a few years ago.
An avid outdoorsman, Mike enjoyed fishing, camping, the mountains, grilling and vegetable gardening.A former truck driver and painter by trade, he spent his time in recent years volunteering and working at Care Corps in Fremont and working on model trains.Mike loved music and motorcycles and was an avid reader and lifelong learner.He was both mechanically and artistically gifted and enjoyed watercolor painting.Mike also had a passion for ice cream and chocolate marshmallow shakes.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Saturday, May 30th, 10 a.m., Midland University Dining Hall, off Pebble Street, between 8th and 10th Streets (parking entrance off Pebble), Fremont, NE.A Colorado remembrance gathering will be held Tuesday, June 16th, 7 p.m., Vintage City Church, Fort Collins, CO.Memorial contributions may be made to: Care Corps, Fremont, NE; any preferred Veterans organization, or the charity of your choice.
