Ramona J. Hawkins, 88

On June 27, 2019, Ramona June Hawkins, daughter of Darcy E. and Neva E. Rouse, crossed peacefully into the arms of her loving Lord at the age of 88 at Providence Place in Fremont. Born in Decatur, NE on July 8, 1930, Ramona married Richard C. Hawkins on April 3, 1949 at Tekamah.They began to build their family shortly thereafter, living in Oakland, Tekamah, and eventually settling in Fremont in 1965.Ramona was actively involved in women's groups at the First United Methodist Church of Fremont, worked for Hinky Dinky grocery store until her retirement, and enjoyedcaring for her family for most of her days.Ramona was passionate about feeding her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, and loved cooking for big family get-togethers above all else.

Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her son, William (Bill) Hawkins, her brother, Boyd Rouse, her sister, Jean Grothe, and son-in-law, Bill Smith.

She is survived by her daughters, Neva Eileen Smith and Patti (Larry) Heimann of Fremont, and Kathleen Middleton of Madisonville, TN, , including guardianship of Jean (David) Prior, Thomas Middleton, and Tina (Scott) Taylor.She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be Monday, July 1 at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Fremont.Rev. Bill Gepford officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 30 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00.

Memorials have been established to the First United Methodist Church and Providence Place.

Interment services will be Monday at 1:30 P.M. at the Tekamah Cemetery.
