Robert E. Tegt, age 88 of Fremont, died at Shalimar Gardens Thursday April 14.

Bob was born in Blair, Nebraska and raised in Fremont. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1941. He attended Midland College where he played football and then served in WWII in the Army Air Corps piloting B-17s in Europe. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi and was a two year letterman in football. After graduation he was offered a contract to play baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals. Bob taught High School in Lyons, Nebraska and then in Lead, South Dakota for two years where he also coached three sports. He returned to Nebraska in 1951 to work in the dairy business, eventually returning to Fremont where he owned and operated Richee Dairy until his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Fremont Golf Club, the VFW, and the Fremont Rotary Club.

Bob married Kathryn Legge in Fremont December 26, 1949.

He is survived by his wife Kathy. Three sons, Robert Tegt (wife Kaye) of Spicer, Minnesota, Thomas Tegt (wife Barbara) of Lincoln, and David Tegt (wife Cindy) of Dallas, Texas. Eight Granddaughters and 1 great grandson. He is also survived by one sister Mary Lee Tegt of Fremont, sister-in-law Edythe Legge of North Bend, and sister-in-law Darlene Tegt of California. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Services will be Monday at 2:30 P.M. at the Presbyterian Church Dr. William Bowers officiating.

A visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Dugan Funeral Chapel with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00.
