Fremont
Died at Fremont Area Medical Center Friday, February 15. She was born October 25, 1921 at Mason City, Iowa and graduated from Clear Lake, Iowa High School in 1939. Rosalyn graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1943, taught in Trayer, Iowa from 1943 to 1946 when she moved to Sioux City, Iowa where she taught vocal and instrumental music in their elementary schools. She moved to Fremont in 1971 and from 1973 until her retirement in 1985 she taught woodwind instruments in Fremont Elementary and Jr. High Schools.
Rosalyn Kopecky married Donnin Ames June 15, 1947 at Clear Lake, Iowa.
She was a member of First Methodist Church, Sarah Circle, the Retired Teachers Association, Mu Phi Epsilon Music Sorority (which she started in Sioux City), and Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. She has been a 20 year volunteer with the Fremont Area Medical Center Auxiliary. Her hobbies included a total love of music, antiques, gardening, and simply visiting with friends and relatives.
She is survived by her husband four sons; Richard D.Ames (wife Sandy) of Olathe, Kansas, Steven A. Ames of Omaha, Thomas C. Ames (wife Cindy) of Omaha, and one sister Mildred Thomsen of Clear Lake, Iowa. She was preceded by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Services will be Wednesday, February 20 at 10:00 A.M. at Dugan Funeral Chapel. Rev. Greg Hall officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8. A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church. Condolences may be left at www.duganchapel.com.
Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.
