Ruth Harriet Yenney age 80, formerly of Fremont, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008 of
respiratory failure at Lakeside
Hospital in Omaha.
She was born to August and Cora Weitzenkamp on the
family farm near Scribner,
Nebraska. She graduated from
Scribner
High School at the age of
16.
During and after World War II, she worked as a secretary
at the Nebraska Ordinance Plant in Mead. She married Roy Yenney on June 9, 1947
and they had recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary when
he died on June 25, 1996.
In the 1960's they bought Holly's Hallmark at the
Fremont Mall. Over the years their business expanded to include five Hallmark
stores in Fremont, Omaha, Council Bluffs, and
Grand
Island.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Wladis and her
husband Marc of Lakeville, MA; a son, Steven Yenney and his wife Dawn of Omaha;
and four grandsons, Brett, Evan, and Adam Wladis of Lakeville, MA, and Chase
Yenney of Omaha. A sister Doris, of
Fremont, and two brothers Lowell and Ronald
Weitzenkamp, both of Fremont.
A visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00
PM at Dugan Funeral Chapel.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, at
Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont.
Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery.
