Sterling J. Siercks of Fremont, NE, passed away July 2, 2011.

Sterling was born March 5, 1922, in Arlington, NE., to Julius and Rose Siercks. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the 1059th Signal Corps of the Army Air Corps from 1943 through 1945. He married Doris Vondracek of Schuyler, NE., on February 10, 1946, in Marysville, KS. Doris passed away August 4, 2008.

Sterling worked for the Nebraska Job Service for over 30 years. He began his career in Nebraska City as a claims rep and interviewer. In 1965, he transferred to Fremont as manager. He retired in 1981. Sterling and Doris spent the winters in Arizona and their summers at their cabin near Duncan until 1996, when they moved back to Fremont. Sterling enjoyed driving his boat for his grandkids and playing cards with his friends at Nye Square. He was also a member of the Eagles and American Legion.

Sterling is survived by his family - Deb and Marty Williamson, Fremont, NE; Jan and Steven Hultstrand, Roll, AZ; Terri and Dennis Teten, Brainard, NE. He had 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grand child.

There will be a visitation welcoming friends and family on Thursday, July 7th, from 6PM to 8PM at the Dugan Funeral Chapel in Fremont.
