Thomas 'Tom' E. Bartels age 81, of Fremont passed away Friday January 9, 2015 at his home.


Tom was born April 11, 1933 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska to Emil and Mabel (Denker) Bartels and died on January 9, 2015.On August 5, 1985 Tom and Kathy Sucha were married in Atlanta Georgia.

Tom Graduated from Fremont High School in 1951.He played on the 1951 high school basketball championship team and was named team captain for the championship game.In 2002 he was inducted into the Fremont High School Athletic Hall of Fame.


Tom was a truck driver for his Dad's milk route.Tom was a standout American Legion left handed pitcher and was signed to the Cleveland Indians.However Tom's lifelong favorite major league baseball team was the Dodgers.He was an avid fan of all sports.

Tom served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict years of 1953-1955 with duties in France and Germany and was honorably discharged in 1955. Tom was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles, and Salem Lutheran Church where he regularly attended church services.


Tom was owner of the Tom Tom Lounge, Dugout, Time Clock, and Silver Dollar Lounge.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Dugan Funeral Chapel from 4:00-8:00PM with family present from 6:00-8:00PM.


Services will be Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 10:30am at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont with Pastor Michael Thomas officiating.Internment will take place at Memorial Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W. Post #854 and American Legion Post #20.
