Vernie E. Erickson, 91 Fremont Died at Shalimar Gardens on Sunday Morning. She was born in Uehling, Nebraska June 18, 1914 and was raised in Uehling and Crofton, Nebraska. She graduated from Hooper High School in 1932, attended Wayne State College and then taught in Rural Burt County. Vernie Miller married Waldine Olson at Uehling and lived on a farm near Oakland until his death June 14, 1940. She then lived in Omaha and Tacoma, Washington before returning to Oakland in 1945 where she worked in a Bank. In 1957 she moved to Fremont and taught in Fremont Elementary Schools from 1959 to 1973. She recieved her BA from Midland Lutheran College in 1964 and her Masters in Education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1973. She was Assistant Professor of Elementary Education at Midland Lutheran College from 1973 until her retirement in 1979. She married Francis Erickson September 2, 1948 at Springfield, Nebraska. He died November 9, 1969. She was a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teaching Society and a member of Arbor Vita Chapter 15 Order of Eastern Star in Fremont. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Board of Trustees, Ring Quilters of Oakland, a Life Member of Howard School PTA, and numerous teachers organizations. Rev. Ron Croom officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Home.
