Violet E. Hardy, age 89, of Tucson, Arizona formerly of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Sunrise Senior Living Center in Tucson, Arizona.

Violet was born April 8, 1927 to Rev. E.R. and Melvina (Harmon) Christiansen on a farm near Decatur. Violet graduated from Decatur High School in 1944. Following high school she attended Midland Lutheran College. She married Marshall R. Hardy on April 25, 1946 in Fremont. She taught school in Washington and Douglas counties for 8 years and Fremont Opportunity School in Fremont for 1 year. Following her teaching career she began working for The Dodge County Treasurer'soffice where she worked for 17 years.In 1978, she became the Dodge County Treasurer where she worked until her retirement in 1991.

She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Vivian A. Flanders, sister Velva C. Piekarski and brother J.R. Christiansen.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years Marshall, daughter Barbara (Jeff) Taylor of Tucson, Arizona, grandson Joel (Kim) Taylor of Bowling Green, Kentucky and great-grandson Jacob Marshall Taylor.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Timothy Lutheran Church.

Funeral Services will take place Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:00AM at Dugan Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of funeral service on Friday.
