Our History

William E. Dugan died 1969. His son, William F. (Bill) Dugan had been a Funeral Director in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and in 1974 purchased the firm from Bob Lattin and Art Chambers and moved to Fremont. Art Chambers died in the Pathfinder Hotel explosion in 1976. Bob Lattin retired in 1979. He died in 1993. 

In 1975, Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Home moved to its present location at 8th and Lincoln Avenue. In 2006, Bill C. Dugan became a licensed funeral director and moved back to Fremont. To celebrate three generations of service to the Fremont area, the funeral home name was changed to Dugan Funeral Chapel.

  • William F. Dugan

    William F. Dugan, Funeral Director/Consultant

    Bill was raised in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School, the University of Nebraska and the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. In 1974, he purchased Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel and returned to Fremont. He has served on numerous boards in the funeral service profession and is a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Bill has served as board member and president of numerous civic organizations. Bill and his wife Jane have two sons, Bill C. and Patrick.

  • Brittney Voss Rapp

    Brittney Voss Rapp, Manager/Funeral Director

    Brittney is a 2010 graduate of Arlington High School. She attended Fort Scott Community College where she earned a degree in business. While at Fort Scott she competed in college rodeo in barrel racing, and breakaway roping. Brittney earned her degree in mortuary science in 2014, from Des Moines College of Mortuary Science. Brittney currently serves as the Nebraska Funeral Director Association, President, she previously served as the NeFDA District 1 President. She is a member of the Arlington Community Church and resides in Blair with husband Darin and their daughter Adaline Jo.

  • Marshelle  Dymek

    Marshelle Dymek, Office Manager/Funeral Director

    Marshelle was born and raised in Omaha, NE. She graduated with honors from Metropolitan Community College with a degree in Applied Science. Marshelle earned her degree in Mortuary Science from Des Moines Area Community college. She has four children, Matthew (Andrea), Rachel (Dan), April (Shane), Gage and six grandchildren.

  • Vern C. Gibson

    Vern C. Gibson, Funeral Director

    Vern was born and raised in California. He worked with Pan American and Delta Airlines for 31 years. He moved to Fremont in 1983. Vern attended Mortuary Science School in Kansas City and became a licensed funeral director in 2000. He serves on several boards and is very active in Kiwanis Club and the Fremont Shrine Club. He is a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Vern and his wife Jane have a son and daughter, and four grandchildren.

  • Tom  Vogt

    Tom Vogt, Advanced Planning Consultant

    Tom grew up in Arlington, Nebraska, attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and Arlington Public Schools. He graduated with a Technical degree in agricultural business from University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture and received a Bachelor of Science degree in general agriculture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Tom brings a wealth of experience in the public relations and marketing fields through ConAgra and Snap-On Tools. He is an advanced planning consultant for Dugan Funeral Chapel, and works with families through aftercare services and monument sales. Tom and his wife Gina live in Arlington and have one son, Christian.
